playtime and more time to relax. William got brave enough to ride the four-wheeler with Grandpa Bruce and in a big tractor with Uncle Jim. Christopher got much more comfortable\u00a0with Mike [the border collie] as the week went on, and managed to tolerate him being in fairly close proximity. I wish I could say they settled into sleeping well while we were there, but ![\"IMG_1122\"](\"https:\/\/aroundherelately.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1122-e1432092103405.jpg\")
<\/a>Christopher had a rough week. They traveled like champs though, and thankfully for this motion-sick mama, the flights back were much smoother. It would have taken me awhile to work up courage to fly again after the initially rough ride between SLC and Denver.<\/p>\nThe week we got back was a whirlwind of catching up on work, getting the house in order, and appointments, before Jason flew out to Boston for a week to do something called “on-boarding” with his new team. Basically it sounded like a week of meet-and-greet mixed with learn as much as you can. Before he left we send him to the Dr. for the cold(s) that had been nagging him for 3 weeks. He didn’t come home with antibiotics like I had hoped, so I spent the week listening to him cough at night and pondering Truth be told, the week he was gone wasn’t that bad. In a moment of brilliance, Jason had asked a neighbor girl to come help me for about 90 minutes after work\/before bedtime each night and she was my angel. Jason knew I was struggling on the anxiety front, but too stubborn to ask for help. Our neighbor gal is\u00a0a sophomore in HS and lives two houses down. Each night around 6:30 she’d walk over and spend time playing with the boys or supervising bath time or anything else it took for me to have time to regroup for the next day. Such a blessing!<\/p>\n It rained on and off the entire week Jason was gone, and hasn’t stopped since. Ironically enough we had just purchased two rain barrels and the storms filled them both the day we brought them home. They’ve been overflowing ever since! It’s been a very wet May (by Utah standards) and we’re still waiting on planting out a few last things in the garden. The good news is that the new perennials I’ve put in the ground this spring (hostas, a bleeding heart, some creeping phlox, ivy, and hyacinth) should have an easier time getting established with the plentiful water. I’m sure it will get DRY and we’ll be missing this weather in a couple months. It’s funny how you get so used to it being so sunny all the time and after a few cloudy weeks you start to miss it.<\/p>\n Yesterday I took a mental health day (something I plan to do more often) and caught up with my old roommate Tiff. (Flashback to 2005–she was one of the first 2 people I met in Utah!). She has some mad sewing skills and is going to sew me a new purse and a couple throw-pillow covers. If any of you remember me buying fabric for this project in January you are correct–it’s the same project–life it just insane sometimes. I drove out to Eagle Mountain where she lives, which is much closer to the edge of nowhere than I had imagined. We had lunch and got in some talk therapy about frustrations in both of our lives. I topped off the day with some shopping and even bought myself a couple little presents–a new CD (Ed Sheeran), a few new plants for the yard, and a terrarium! (This one was $12, how could I say no?). William is officially 3 and Christopher is officially 1. William is still not potty trained and Christopher is still not walking or talking. I guess we’re a bit stuck in the mud. On the upside Christopher learned to sleep better the week Jason was out of town and they’re both still cute! Here are some pictures as a reminder \ud83d\ude42 Until next time. The laundry that’s not put away, the layer of food crumbs on the floor, the dishes in the dishwasher (clean) and the sink (dirty). For now they will wait. The boys also had well-child visits and Christopher got his round of 1 year old shots. Christopher had a mild fever for about 24 hours before his shots which worried me, but thankfully didn’t turn into anything worse.
