We had an excellent time on our trip to WI, but it’s OH SO GOOD to be HOME! We started the return tripĀ from home (Loganville, WI) at 6:20am and checked into our hotel shortly before 10pm in Laramie, WY. Googlemaps says it’s 15 1/2 hours of driving, so accounting for gas/food stops and the time change we still made pretty good time. We decided it could be done in one long shot, but we encountered some torrential rain outside Sidney, NE that not only was scary, but really exhausted my desire to drive into the night. We left our hotel inĀ Laramie about 7:45am and after a brief stop in Park City, UT arrived home at 2pm. Whew!
My great grandmother’s auction was fun. Mostly a chance for us to visit with everyone. We purchased a few odds and ends including a glider-rocker we’d been eyeing. By the time we’d loaded the CRV it was pretty full! Utah is now home to a glider-rocker, 2 kitchen chairs, a rose bush, an ornamental ‘globe’ thistle, 2 coolers of meat, and all of our purchased auction goodies!! Jason has been trying out the new rocker but keeps having to share his seat with a cat that missed him VERY much! lol.
Rusty and Chica’s wedding was fun. Since we rarely get dressed up, I have included a picture of the two of us from their big day along with a picture of the happy couple. I forgot how HUMID it is in WI! My hair was doing all sorts of ringlets I’m not used to, and the concrete floor in the reception building was actually sweating (pulling moisture right out of the air!). It was fun to dance it up with friends and see how we’re all moving into the ‘adult’ phase of our lives. We could support a small daycare all by ourselves these days!
While we were in WI, the farm had several small visitors as well. My cousin Susan brought her two kids–3 year old Noah, and 1 month old Aslynn out for a visit. Noah had a fun time seeing all the animals and playing on the tractor with Jason. Jason thinks that according to the sounds Noah made for the tractor, we now have a tractor equipped with lasers. He also very much enjoyed the calf hutches but didn’t quite understand that he could stand up in them–Jason was crouching…so Noah did also. I snapped this cute picture of Noah talking to the baby goats; apparently if you lift their ears up they hear better.
The farm also welcomed Andy and Sarah’s two kids Olivia and Henry. They are darn cute…and go go go! On our final farm-day I got to meet 9 month old Sophia. What a little pudge! I’m sad I forgot to snap pictures with most of my farm visitors, but I guess there will be next time.
Overall we had an excellent trip to visit everyone in WI. The drive was exhausting, so we’re thankful we usually get to fly. Hopefully there will be another trip to come this fall or around Christmas-time.
