Small Problem(s)

While home with the baby yesterday I looked out the back window to discover we have a small problem. Actually 7 of them that I counted. They have moved under the metal shed after digging out a home. A few years ago they lived under our wooden shed, which made sense because it was elevated off the ground and had a nice hollow area under the wooden floor for them. We solved that problem by stapling chicken wire to the bottom of the shed and running it out under the dirt. The metal shed proves more difficult, as we cannot fasten chicken wire directly to the metal, and they are burrowing underneath and digging out their home. Admittedly, the babies are kind of cute, and play and roughhouse like kittens, but there’s the serious “ick” factor with skunks. I don’t want one stuck in our window well again this year. We will probably wait until fall and then gently evict them, hopefully next spring we can get some sort of plan in place before this situation arises. Jason suggested we move our metal shed over onto the concrete pad, but I have no idea how we’d do that without a forklift or dismantaling the whole thing. For now, we live with our new family of uninvited visitors. Update: I have added this video of the little buggers.
