Back to Work

I went back to work about 2 weeks ago, and therefore, nothing has been posted on my blog for approximately 2 weeks. Here is the latest:

I started back at work and Will started daycare on June 4th. On my first day back Jason and Will sent me flowers at work. Jason has never had flowers delivered before so it was a pretty big deal. He told me it was Will’s idea, and he just provided the cash. It was sweet. So far Will and I are fairly happy with our new routine. He had a bit of a snuffly nose, but I wouldn’t even call it an actual cold. He is at daycare 3 days per week and has a Mommy-daycare day on Wednesday and a Daddy-daycare day on Friday. I’m really loving being back at work EXCEPT for having to pump several times a day to feed him. What a pain! BUT I’m committed to breastfeeding for at least 6 months or as long as we’re able. (I’d like to get to a year.) I think he’s also hitting a growth spurt because for a couple mornings he’s woken up STARVING at 4:30am instead of his usual 6am time. Mama is a bit tired because of this, but I really can’t blame him for being hungry. The nice part is he’s all business…he eats and goes right back to sleep. The bad part is that 4:30am really doesn’t leave me much time to get back to sleep with Jason’s alarm going off at 5:15am. Will is also stretching out his awake times during the day and napping less frequently. Luckily he’s in a pretty good mood now during his awake time and really enjoys lying on his play mat at batting at the toys, talking to himself in the mirror, and kicking/scooting across the floor. Sometimes I sit him in his bouncy seat in the kitchen and he watches me do dishes or cook. He smiles pretty easily these days, and is getting really good at grabbing things. He’s starting to taste-test all of his toys and blankets. Thankfully, there are no signs of rolling yet so he still stays where I put him (minus the scooting). I am a bit fearful of him gaining more and more mobility, but I know it will also be a fun stage. This week he learned that if he kicks his feet in the tub he can make the water splash. This may be the end of baths in the kitchen sink unless I want to sop up water and wash the windows frequently. We’re planning to use his baby bathtub inside the big tub until he’s gets bigger and can sit up on his own…which reminds me I want to try the bumbo again with him…maybe he’s closer to being able to really use it.

Our skunk family has failed to get the eviction notice. Jason thinks in a couple weeks we will turn the hose on under the shed and flush them out. It seemed to work in the short-term last time so it’s worth a shot. All the babies are old enough to be on their own now and I don’t feel so bad for evicting them.

We’ve recently started looking at new houses more seriously. I want room to entertain and an extra bedroom or two. All of this baby stuff is making me feel rather cramped. Problem is, we look at houses online, but when we decide one is worth going to look at it instantaneously sells. So frustrating! The last two houses we were excited about had offers before we even got to walk through them. It may be time to get serious about getting an agent and see if we can actually ‘see’ some houses without offers pending. I’m not excited about moving persay, but I am excited about being moved.

I will include a picture of my boys that is my current favorite. I’d like to think Will could use this one in a slideshow at his wedding someday. 🙂
