I am ready for winter to end. William and I are tired of being penned up in the house. It is time for some fresh-air stroller rides free from inversion and snowy sidewalks. It is time to play in the yard. It is time for Spring.
We’ve had another busy month. In the past several weeks William had two big milestones: he was officially blessed (an LDS church custom), and took his first steps! He continues to sleep through the night SO much better than ever before. It only took 10 months for us to figure out how to make it happen. He claps, does “SO BIG”, dances, and says a handful of words. Monday he will be 11 months…and 4 weeks later we will be celebrating his 1 year birthday in WI! CRAZY!
We had a good Valentine’s Day. William and I ate blueberry pancakes on my morning off together, and then ran errands. I found a new pair of jeans AND a dress for my brother’s wedding. Quite the feat with a baby in tow. We also stopped at Costco and got a Valentine’s pizza for Jason. (I was feeling bad for burning the Costco pizza we got for him to try several days earlier). On my way to drop off Will at daycare we went through the carwash…He was so intrigued!
Earlier in the week I caught up with a dear friend who asked me how my elbow was doing. I realized those of you that don’t see me all the time, and don’t see me doing elbow therapy at work each day might not know how that situation is going. Here is the update: I had a 4 week follow-up on 1/23 and the Dr. told me I could start weaning out of my arm brace. I made a pretty quick process of that. The final straw was one night when I was rushing home from work and realized I had left my brace under my desk. Needless to say, I did not go back for it. I have continued to do therapy. 2/15 was the first time I have measured back at full range of motion, though I have a little further to go. My 8 week follow up is this coming week. I anticipate this will likely be my last follow up with the Dr. I’m not even certain they will do another x-ray (the last one showed that the bone chip was healing back down correctly). All in all, I would not reccommend dislocating your elbow. The first couple weeks were pretty uncomfortable and the recovery process is just slow. Thankfully the brace helped me get through the worst of it and remain very functional. This was especially important with William crawling all over. I’m glad my rehab is almost complete!
Today we travelled to Logan for a baby shower. Maydene and Garth were nice enough to lend out their house for the event. William was a trooper both at the event and during the long car ride there and back. Baby showers are fun, but I am glad I don’t have to go back to those inexperienced shoes again. I realize how much I’ve learned over the past year.
Monday Jason and I both have off for President’s Day and plan to re-hang our kitchen cabinet doors. This will finish the project we started with my mom/aunt back in January. I really hope the paint holds up well. I think the look will be much improved. I will post some more before/after pictures when we get the job done.
