Spring Break..Err..Winter Break

Another month has passed and a few more house projects have been accomplished. Cabinets Before and AfterWe finished rehanging most of our kitchen cabinet doors on President’s Day as anticipated. The following weekend Marion and Lee came up and hung out with William long enough for us to finish the remaining few. I really like how this project turned out! We also finally had blinds installed throughout the entire main floor. 2″ fauxwood, nothing fancy, but really makes the space feel more finished.  It is amazing how much faster a project will go if you just shell out the extra money for someone else to do
IMG_0252it…all the windows were measured in 30 minutes, and 2 weeks later all the blinds were installed in 2 hours. So easy! After much procrastination I got a switch ordered for our fridge, which hasn’t had working lights since we moved in. Jason informed me it took longer to pull the fridge out and unplug it than it did to replace the broken door switch. Voila! Working fridge lights! (So excited, so excited, so excited!). I’d still like to sand and paint some of the trim before summer, but we will see how that goes.

We have tulips, and iris, and crocus, and other yet unidenified perennial plant materials sprouting up all over our new flowerbeds! The first spring in a new house is so exciting! The weather has finally turned warm and hopefully there will be green grass soon. We took advantage of a ‘warm enough’ day and took William out in the stroller. We toured over to our local elementary school. It is literally 3 blocks from our house and right next to the middle school. William will be in REALLY close walking proximity until he reaches highschool. We checked out the playground equipment and Jason took William down a slide for the first time. I can see him having a lot of fun here in the future!IMG_1408

Just as the weather was getting warm, it was time to pack up for our trip to WI. I don’t want my WI friends to take this the wrong way, but I have realized this was a terrible time of year to leave Salt Lake. Our weather is about a month ahead of the Midwest right now, so whereas my parent’s house has piles of snow and ice, my house in Salt Lake has tulips coming up. Spring is really my favorite time of year…hopefully I don’t miss it completely in the week I’m gone :). The trip went really well. William traveled far better than I expected. He still hates to sit still, but fought quietly for the majority of the trip. Jason walked him around in the back of the plane when they let us get up from our seats. William really enjoys flirting with the flight attendants. IMG_1415When we got off the plane in Minneapolis Will waved “bu-bye” to everyone getting off the plane while we unwrapped our stroller in the jetway. We were delayed about 90 minutes in Minneapolis as they tried to decide exactly which plane we were using to get to Madison, but William was a pretty agreeable little traveler in the airport as well. We arrived in Madison around 6pm and after a short stop for groceries we were home in time for bath and bedtime. He does have a cold and is probably cutting teeth, but hopefully he is a happy camper when we take family pictures on Friday.

Everyone asks us what our plans are during our trip. Other than family pictures on Friday, and food/open house for William’s first birthday on Sunday, we really haven’t made any plans. I have decided (especially since William came along), that spending the entire week running all over really is exhausting. I think when we visit in June and the weather is nicer we might do a little more visiting if the timing works out well. In the meantime we are trying to relax and enjoy our vacation.

I will have pictures to post from Williams FIRST birthday in the coming week! Take Care!
