Dear Andrew,
You are the happiest. We are the luckiest. To add a 3rd boy to the family was a blessing, and you made it as easy as it could be. With two crazy boys already in the family, we needed a baby like you. You are my best sleeper by far. You’re patient enough to sometimes just sit in your highchair while we deal with the chaos that is your brothers. You are constantly moving! To get you to sit still long enough to snap your picture is a feat. You’re not afraid to get right into the middle of a wrestling match with your two much bigger and rougher brothers–and they tend to let you chime right in. You love baths, and will play forever so long as we don’t get your face too wet. You’re ever so close to walking! We saw your first few steps the week of your first birthday, but they are still very elusive. You love your binkies, and your blankeys, and having someone to carry you around. You giggle especially hard when William pushes you in the swing or plays peek-a-boo during dinnertime. You are a little chatterbox, although not saying a whole lot of real words just yet. Daddy and I are pretty sure you say “uh huh” and nod yes sometimes when you want something. We also get the occasional wave goodbye and lots of clapping. We’re excited to see what words develop during your second year! You’ve finally got 4 teeth, and we can see at least 2 more about to come in. You eat a little of everything but are currently a big fan of canned peaches, pancakes, and garden tomato baby crunchies. I finally got my blue-eyed boy! Unlike your brown-eyed brothers, your eyes have remained a pretty blue color. However just like your older brothers, you’ve got wispy blonde hair that “might” be ready for its first haircut sometime this summer–right now you have a couple cute little ringlet curls at the nape of your neck and a few long stray hairs around your ears but no other hair long enough to mention.
What is a day usually like for a one-year-old Andrew? You get your first bottle in bed (usually between 6:30 and 7) and then roll out between 7 and 8. You tend to wake up happy and not find much to be upset about unless we put you down when you’re in the mood to be held. Breakfast in the high chair is either followed by a day at Debbie’s or a lazy weekend-day at home. Weekend naps happen around 10am and 3:30pm which still leaves time to play and eat (a couple more times) before another bottle and 7:30pm bedtime. You usually sleep all through the night, and on the occasion that you do wake up, a little Tylenol is usually all it takes to help you fall back to sleep. You wake up happy and ready to do it all over again!
We love you so much and look forward to the year ahead. Happy Birthday to YOU, Andrew, our littlest brother!
