It’s amazing how much one kid can change in 12 short months! Andrew at 9 is such a changed kid from Andrew at 8! What a great year this kid has had (school included!). He had some amazing teachers (Mrs. Porter and Maestra de la Cruz, we are forever indebted to you!). This year brought back a bit of faith that there will be challenges but everything will be okay.
Andrew, I’m so proud of you. This year you learned so much about who you are and what you need and started to understand how to advocate for yourself. Every day you came home with another classmate you could call your friend. You skipped off to school every morning (now on your own!!) in order to get there early enough to play tag before school. You were a great helper in class and got the “Service” Chief Example to Others award (CEO) from both your classroom teachers AND the school librarians! You’ve independently put miles on your bike around the neighborhood and gained SO MUCH confidence.
Although actually reading still isn’t your favorite, for some reason the school Book Fair is your favorite event of the whole year. You are learning and speaking the most beautiful Spanish. You met all the end of year goals in math and became a more frequent participant in class. At home you are dad’s number one helper in the yard. This year you have gone through countless cardboard boxes, yards of string, rolls of tape, and other various craft items building and designing your creations–which have included so many houses for our cats and your stuffies. You enjoy assembling legos and CrunchLabs kits, and are really handy with assembling any sort of flat packed furniture. You love stuffed animals, penguins, containers and boxes, any type of small trinket or fidget toy, and of course your blue car blankie.
You dislike Christopher’s general existence, although in his defense you do your best to annoy him at any opportunity and his tolerance is VERY low. I know you look up to William and Christopher even if you don’t always show it. Your best friends at school are Nikko-who gives the best hugs to EVERYONE, and Issac.
Cheers to enjoying your last year in the single digits!! We LOVE YOU. Squeeze, Squoze, Squze.
